About Us
Griff Neilson currently serves as the president of L.L.Fitness. Griff is currently 25 years old and has been working as a Certified Personal Trainer for three years to date. His passion for health and fitness stems back to his childhood years when he was affectionately nick-named “The Comet” due to his high energy level and desire to exercise and be physically active. Griff has a sincere desire to help people in their quest for health and fitness. This has been proven time and time again with his clients. Griff entered the world of health and fitness shortly after he returned home from an LDS mission in Carlsbad California. There he saw an emerging trend in the corporate world characterized by companies wanting and needing corporate fitness trainers to oversee there employee’s exercise efforts. Having direct contact with employees that had received the benefits of corporate fitness, and being told by a good friend, “find what you love to do and make a living doing it,” he decided to become a personal trainer when he returned to his home state of Utah.
Griff arrived at the Gold’s Gym Layton location as newly certified personal trainer at the ripe old age of twenty-two and found himself surrounded by much older and seasoned personal trainers. Upon defeating the self doubt and intimidation lent by the other trainers, Griff decided that he wanted to set a new standard of quality for the Layton Gold’s Gym. Each client became a sincere personal challenge for him and he continued to learn and expand in the knowledge of health and fitness. He now stands as the sole surviving Personal Trainer and is currently focusing his efforts towards corporate fitness training.
Griff graduated the spring of 04’ at the University of Utah with a bachelor’s degree in Exercise and Sports Science. He enjoys membership in the Golden Key and PHI KAPPA PHI Honor Societies for being among the top ten percent of academic achievers in his class. He graduated with perfect attendance and is now able and studying to take the certification test for the National Strength and Conditioning Association and the American College of Sports Medicine, both of which he is a member of. These institutions maintain rigid standards to filter out those who are not committed to excellence. To obtain these certifications, one must possess a degree in Exercise and Sports Science or another health related field.
Griff has enjoyed success with his clients in part because of his deep knowledge and passion of fitness. Griff is living proof to the title “Personal Fitness Trainer”, because of his perceived obligation to share his knowledge of kinesiology, physiology, biomechanics and anatomy that is characteristic of a successful exercise program. He has a gift of simplifying the complex and making the learning process enjoyable for those under his guidance. He has frequently shared his talents in the form of public speaking as he has spoke at events ranging from religious events to military gatherings. He love for health and fitness is manifested as he shares key principles of health and fitness in an easy to understand format.
