Hello, my friends!
How the heck are you? I hope you are treating life well, and I hope that it is reciprocating! A couple weeks back, I told you I was going to post more of what I ate to give you an idea of how healthy food does not have to taste like S#*%! My wife does an amazing job of finding healthy recipes that actually taste good! Again, I will remind you that I go gluten free, so some of the food that you will see is limited. Maybe in a similar post, I will share some other healthy recipes that are not gluten free. Listed below are some of the nutritional “highlights” of my week. I hope this sparks some nutritional wisdom and creates ideas for you!
• Homemade coconut protein bars made with a small portion of organic real butter. Yes, it can be healthy if consumed in small doses!
• Sweet-Potato Chilli! This stuff is the bomb! It is low-glycemic and very tasty! The only problem is that the ogliosaccriddes (indigestible carbs that are responsible for gas) really get to me and to all of those around me. LOL! Sorry for the TMI!
• Spinach Tortilla Navajo Taco! This gem is awesome! It is low glycemic, gluten free, and essentially sugar free! I used skinless chicken breast and turkey as my meat, FYI, so I guess it was not a true Navajo Taco. Sometimes you have to be creative!
• Smoothie made with almond milk, strawberries, whey protein, half of a banana, raw cocoa powder, ground cinnamon, organic vanilla extract, a little Kale, and stevie! This was my own concoction! This is the beauty of eating healthy and owning a Vitamix™! They are so versatile that all you have to do is have a little imagination and the possibilities become endless!
• Tilapia Salad! My wife put some fresh tilapia in our food processor and ground it over a tossed green salad. I used a low-fat cottage cheese and put a little vinaigrette dressing on it to give it some flavoring, not too bad I must say! If you don’t like fish then this is not for you, but if you do, then give it a try!
• Spinach Wrap Breakfast Burrito! I used a little homemade salsa, some mozzarella cheese and spiced it up to my liking! I was told later that day to try some cilantro on it. I think that might be tasty, too!
• Tex-Mex! This was made from some organic non GMO (genetically modified) corn that we had bottled from our garden. Basically, this was a mix of free-range grass fed beef, corn, salsa, and chips from the company, Food Should Taste Good! ™. This tasted amazing and was a great little meal/snack!
• Spaghetti Squash Spaghetti! I love this one! We used a low-sugar organic pasta sauce with ground turkey! Yum! I could eat it all day! Basically, you use the squash in place of pasta for spaghetti! It is a great little find.
• Mushroom/Chicken/Beef/Cheese Concoction! Lol! I don’t know what else to call this because my wife was not home, so I lathered up a frying pan with coconut oil and sliced and diced the aforementioned ingredients, and, to my surprise, it was awesome! Oh yeah, and I added some fresh salsa and ground pepper as well!
Well, there you have it, my friends! Who says that eating healthy is boring! The only way that eating healthy is boring is if you fall for the SILLY excuse that you don’t have time to prepare you food! Take 15 minutes per day, and that is all that you will need! Preparation is the key to success.
So, essentially, you have two options:
1-Tell yourself that you don’t have time to prepare healthy REAL foods. This will necessitate processed food, fast food, and other “convenience based” foods that will contribute to your waistline, heart disease, and diabetes!
2-Spend 15-20 minutes per day researching and preparing healthy REAL (unprocessed) foods!
The dividends paid are unreal when you eat real foods! Enjoy and let me know what you came up with! Life is good!
God Bless,
Griff
