The Power of YES!
There are many statistics stating how often a young child hears the word “no” before the age of 12. Certainly there is a time and a place for “NO,” especially as a kid. But what about when we grow, mature, and advance into adulthood? Do these negative statistics change? Sadly, they do not.
In my most recent certification seminar, I learned that the average human being experiences anywhere between 48,000 to 72,000 thoughts per day. Wow! What is more amazing is that out of those thoughts, approximately 80% of them are negative! In other words, the average person is walking around all day thinking about all of the things that are not right with life. In my opinion, there is a very powerful tool that can offset the seemingly endless onslaught of negativity, and, this, friend, is the power of “YES!”
Think about it. Most negativity stems from the word “NO!” Please allow me to explain. I want you to say the word “NO,” with strength, resolve, and intensity. How did it feel? Now I want you to do the exact same activity with the word “YES!” How did that feel? One of these words carries with it a negative energy vibration (no) and the other carries with it a positive vibration (yes). If you are aware and honest with yourself, you can feel the difference.
Many times in our lives, our soul speaks to us. To illustrate how this works, think of the last time you thought of something that you would like to do, say, accomplish, or create, but your inner voice chimed in and told you NO! It told you all of the reasons why you cannot or should not follow the desire of your soul! Unfortunately, you agreed with this inner voice, told yourself that you have to be “realistic,” and buried your souls desire–all because of one simple word: “NO!”
What if I were to tell you that your soul has no boundaries? What if I were to tell you that it is not a coincidence, happenstance, or nonsense when your soul tells you something that excites you. The feelings that you desire are from the highest and most sacred part of yourself–the part of you that is divine.
If this seems melodramatic or esoteric in any way, I understand because I have lived that way for the better part of 30 years. What I am also confident in is that when you begin saying, “YES” to those desires, your life will change for the better. If you have always wanted to be a writer but have talked yourself out of it, trying saying YES and then taking massive action towards its attainment. If you feel like you are a skinny person trapped in a fat person’s body, I would urge you to say “YES” to your soul’s desire to get into the best shape of your life. If you want to be a better lover, husband, wife, or professional but you have told yourself “it’s just the way that it is,” I would invite you to stop your “NO” thinking in its tracks and begin to say “YES!”
This simple word can be the difference between a life of complacency and mediocrity and a life of adventure, expression, and passion. The day that I declared to myself that I was going to say YES to my dream and stop caring about the well-meaning opinion of others is the day that I started living my true calling in life.
I invite you today to start replacing your “NOs” with “YES!” I can guarantee you that it is worth it, although it takes courage, repetition, and conviction. Enjoy the journey, my friends, and remember that life is good when you say YES!
God Bless!
