We live in a world that is rife with “quick-fixes”, “hacks” and “fast track solutions”.

In our westernized culture, we have come to demand them, and when they are not available we feel put out, discouraged or frustrated.

Back in 2022, I remember thinking to myself, “I have not seen a gimmicky weight loss solution for quite sometime now, I wonder if we are finally starting to get it!?”

Well, we know the rest of the story as semaglutide injections have taken the world by storm.

Often times we get short term memory loss given the consequences of these so-called solutions. Not long ago there was a little drug called Fen-Phen that rose to mighty heights on the weight loss miracle drug totem pole, but then was discovered to cause heart valve damage.

Are We Really Open Minded About Our Health?

In my opinion, we have a bigger problem than our collective quick fix mindset.

And that problem is that we have a really hard time thinking for ourselves. We are in a hurry and we commonly defer to “experts” because we do not want to do our own research.

In addition, we live in a culture replete with “Sacred Cows”.

These sacred cows cannot be questioned publicly, and if you do question them you are quickly labeled as “anti”, or “dangerous” or some other negative label.

Some of these cultural “sacred cows” are found within the realm of science and also with Medical Doctors.

When we look to the past history is replete with example’s when science has led us astray because it is an evolving practice. Science helps us to understand things, and sometimes it gives us a piece of the puzzle and not the whole puzzle. The problem comes in when we believe we see the whole puzzle. Fen-Phen was a perfect example of a medicine that doctors were prescribing and was scientifically “validated”, until it wasn’t.

We thought we had the whole puzzle, be we clearly did not.

We owe so much to the scientific method and to our amazing and capable doctors, but we also owe it to ourselves to scrutinize products, promises, or anything else that has the potential to affect our health for better or worse.

Many times we slip into self delusion when we want other people to think for us, because doing our own research can be hard and time consuming. We then resort to internal dialogues of justification such as, “Well if it is FDA approved and my doctor is prescribing it, then it must be okay for me”.

True Health & Fitness Is Personal and It Takes a Commitment That Lasts a Lifetime

When it comes down to it, only YOU have the power to influence your health and fitness for the better. Sure, quick fixes come and they go, but they ALWAYS come with a price. I would sincerely invite and encourage you to challenge the conventional wisdom of quick fixes that bombards you in the media and other outlets.

To be clear, I am not saying that there is not a proper application of certain interventions. I am simply stating that most of the time we worship at the feet of conventional wisdom without doing our own due diligence.

If we are honest with ourselves, conventual wisdom has failed us time and time again, but for some reason we seem to be overly forgiving of it because we don’t want to have to do the hard work and actually change our habits that lead to safe and lasting results.

Certain laws exist in the Universe and your bodies biological laws are no exception. Your body is a miracle in and of itself, and it deserves your utmost respect and proper self-care. I would submit, that this includes your own research into the medical interventions that you are asking it to deal with.

When you care for your body, it cares for you back. It is a reciprocal relationship that we often forget about.

The simple fact of the matter is this: Your body is an energetic masterpiece that must be maintained day in and day out for the rest of your life. When we begin to view our health in this regard, we quickly divorce ourselves of quick-fixes that ultimately contribute to our own neglect.

It is never too late to reverse your health and fitness and the good news is that your body is very resilient. Give it the respect that it deserves and it will give it right back.
