Have you ever been in a place where you want to get more healthy and fit but you just can’t seem to find the motivation to get started?
Well, the good news is that we all feel that at times. It’s called being human.
But let’s go a little deeper so that we can get to the root of the problem.
There is a hidden fact that many of us seem to know inherently, but we don’t consider it to be a deterrent to our success.
Why?
For most of us our ego does not want to admit to the truth that I am about to share.
And what is that truth you ask?
The Unavoidable Truth of Health & Fitness…
The politically incorrect truth about health and fitness is this…
- It requires loads of discipline
- It requires you to be physically uncomfortable on a daily basis and even puts you in downright pain at times (think of that 15 rep of a max deep squat and tell me that is not intense pain)
- It requires you to master your mindset and put off pleasure in the moment and submit to something “less desirable” in the moment.
I could list 20 more bullet points but you get the idea.
So Why Then Is Fitness Worth All Of This Pain?
My answer might surprise you and I can assure you that it is not politically correct so please brace yourself with my sincerely loving but candid answer.
It is worth it because your body, and your mind is literally hardwired to be healthy.
It is your natural state of being!
Your body is physiologically designed to move and move a LOT! One hour at the gym does not cut it unfortunately.
Your brain is designed to function best when you are moving because your body then circulates oxygen and other nutrients that it needs.
No other major organ in your body is an exception to this rule.
Your “feel good neurotransmitters” in your brain are profoundly influenced by your state of movement and your overall health.
Your moods, your hormones, your bones, joints, skin, hair, eyes and more are ALL optimized when they receive the nutrition that they demand and the movement that they crave.
That is why the “pain” of health and fitness is so very worth it.
A few moments of disciplined action taken every day may result in some short term physical pain, but it far outweighs chronic pain that will result in it’s absence over time.
The Choice Is Yours…
The sad reality is that most Americans take the path of least resistance. Comfort now and chronic pain and discomfort later.
I hope to see you on the side of the minority.
Your health and happiness depends on it.
Be well my friend and remember…
