“I have fallen and can’t get up!”…… that was all I could say when on a family ski vacation I fell down under the chair lift full off people and literally could not get up because I was out of shape and overweight. It was right then and there when I said I had to change. But just saying you want to change is fairly easy, it was doing something about it that was the hard part. I didn’t think I could change on my own, so I called Griff based on an ad I saw and really was thinking it was a good place due to location.

After just over 4 month and going from 235 lbs with 30% body fat to 185 lbs and 18% body fat, location didn’t really matter anymore! What mattered was the personalized training and attention I received. Sure the general principles of losing weight work for most people but I needed something that worked for me, a busy husband and father who was traveling out of town every other week for work. My first session was spent talking about nutrition. I was all fired up thinking I was going to be yelled at and pushed like an overweight contestant on one of those reality TV shows, but my trainer said, “80% of losing weight is about what you eat and nutrition”. She was right! The work outs are important but the lifelong skills I learned about how to eat is what made the difference.

At the end of our training sessions I could not believe I had lost 50 pounds and actually had stomach muscles again. It was hard work and don’t let anyone tell you differently but so worth it! Thanks to the staff at Lifelong Fitness, when I fall now on the slopes I can bounce right back up!
