NEW FOR 2024 - SEMIPRIVATE TRAINING

In once coached a Senior Vice President to a major credit union here in Utah that I will call Jack.

Jack seemed to have everything going for him. He was very well to do, he was admired by his peers, adored by the CEO and envied by his employees. He was a successful husband and father and was also a beloved leader in his church.

Jack was the kind of guy that seemed to have everything going for him.

Except of course when it came to his own health and fitness. For some reason he could not seem to get it together when to came to taking care of his own needs.

When I began consulting with Jack he quickly told me that he had “tried everything” to lose weight and improve his health. When I asked him to expound he told me that he had hired Dieticians, Personal Trainers and tried every diet under the sun.

I Tried a Little Experiment on Jack…

I was curious and so I tried a little experiment on Jack. I began asking him about all of the area’s of his life that I KNEW he was successful in. I asked him about how he climbed the corporate ladder, I asked him how he secured such an amazing relationship with is wife and kids along with about 5 other areas.

Jack was beaming ear to ear as I let him talk about his success.

Then things got really awkward…

I shifted the topic back to his health and fitness. I asked him to describe his relationship with exercise, nutrition and general healthy lifestyle practices.

As Jack described his journey it became very clear that the tone of his voice was drastically different from when he was describing his successes.

I took the liberty to point out to him the difference between his two states of being and his verbiage as he described his success and his “failures”.

What was striking was the difference in his BELIEFS. When he was talking about his strengths he BELIEVED that he was a rockstar and he was! When he was talking about his “failures” he believed that he was a “failure” and thus he performed like one.

Neuroscience tells us the 96-98% of all our behaviors are subconscious in nature which means that unless we become AWARE our our limiting internal dialogues that we have with ourselves every day, nothing will truly change in our lives.

Remember this….

BELIEF=ACTION

Change your dialogue and your limiting beliefs and you will therefore change your life. In a future post I will go further into some steps that you can take. For now just become AWARE of your negative internal dialogue and do everything in your power to change it.
